July 30, 2015
Dear Teacher Campers,
We want welcome our 2015 PCWP participants. This summer institute is
going to be different than any other we’ve ever experienced. It is an
experiment of sorts. We will only be meeting 2 days in person. Our first day
will be on Monday, July 6th beginning at 9:00 am in Carr building, Room 191. We
will introduce the program and our book study, and the plan for the next week.
We will meet only one more time in person! Most of the content will be digital
in nature.
The PCWP institute will increase your motivation as a writer,
encourage you to implement new types of writing into your classroom, and build
your confidence as a teacher of writing. To begin our time, we would like you
to view a short video for me! Chapter 8 in our book, Crafting Digital Writing,
will be flipped. This means we are going
to start with a little discussion from Chapter 8 about the drawbacks of implementing
digital writing in the classroom. Here is the link to the video. You can copy
and paste this link into your browser. Please watch this video before class
begins. We will be discussing the contents on the first day.
Please
don’t forget to bring your IRS forms on Monday. The form was attached to an
email you received from us previously. Also, if you have changed your name
after attending ASU, you will need to call the registrar to get your identity
updated. You should start calling as
soon as you get this letter!
Your
parking pass for Monday is included with this email. You are encouraged to
bring a laptop or other digital device. Lunch on Monday will be provided, but
you may want to bring your own snacks and drinks to tide you over.
We are looking forward to meeting you soon!
